Wickedly Whiting and Wicked Good Fun

Studio 659 and the Whiting Arts Council have an autumn full of art and creativity for the days when you aren’t out picking apples or carving pumpkins. As the fall colors come cascading into the landscape, it’s hard not to be inspired! On Thursday October 17, we’ll be open for Studio Night from 7-9pm. Studio Nights are open houses for artists and their fans to come discuss and create and share. We’ll have some supplies available, but feel free to bring your current projects and gear. Our only requests are that you support each other and clean up after yourselves. The opening reception for Bump In The Night will be Saturday…

    Fairy Crowns at Pierogi Fest

After some unexpected obstacles, we were able to make some pretty awesome Fairy Crowns on Saturday during Pierogi Fest. There are some more pre-made crowns in the Studio window. You can stop by and purchase one to take with you for $10. You can also purchase some of the remaining art from the Live Art Competition. The Whiting/Robertsdale Historical Society will be in the building on Sunday to talk about Al Odlivak, “Whiting’s Norman Rockwell” Blog this! Call for Art

Metropollenation is open and ready for submissions! This exhibit is all about the tree that grows in Brooklyn, the weed that grows in your sidewalk, and the trees that separate the north- and south-bound lanes. We want the urban botany, not the sweeping landscapes. Consider also using more metropolitan media to create the pollinated bits. See https://studio659.org/call-for-art for details. Submissions are due July 11. July 12 is our buffer day for those last minute squeeze-ins. Blog this!
