Call for Art – Artistic License

Join Studio 659 in Whiting for our Annual Juried Art Show!
This is a salon-style show and art in any medium will be considered.

Eligibility and Fees
Open to artists of all ages. Each artist may enter up to three pieces for consideration. All work must be completed within the last 2 years and not have been previously shown at Studio 659. Members of Studio 659 may submit without fees. Non-members must pay a non-refundable $25 fee to be considered.

Submissions
Due Friday January 11, 2019 through e-mail to artscouncil659@gmail.com.

Submit a photo of each submission in jpeg format as an e-mail attachment. All images must be labeled as firstinitial.lastname.title (K.Smith.ArtworkTitle). Use “Artistic License” in the subject line of the e-mail.

Include your name and an image list in the body of your email with the title, media, size, year completed, and price for each piece. The Studio retains a 30% commission for all sales; please factor this into your retail pricing. Please denote any special installation needs in your email.

Any improperly labeled submissions with missing information will not be considered.

Artwork Acceptance and Notifications
Artists will be notified of acceptance into the exhibit by email on or before Saturday January 12, 2019

Accepted work must be hand delivered during regular Studio by January 18.
*Artists who ship their work must include return shipment label and proper reusable packaging.

Hanging work must be wired 1/3 of the way from the top. Hanging artwork which is not wired or not wired properly will not be hung and will be ineligible for awards.

No substitutions of submissions. The gallery reserves the right to decline any accepted artwork upon delivery if the condition or quality is other than represented in the submission.

Juror and Awards
Liz Mares (b. 1978) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist in the Chicago-Land area working in painting, drawing, installation, photography and mixed media. Her art is often inspired by minimal precisionist subjects, with emphasis on forms, structures and color schematics. Ms. Mares has been featured in numerous exhibitions in the Mid-West and beyond and has her work in several Fortune 500 collections and academic institutions.

Awards will include cash prizes. Artists in the Artistic License show will also be eligible to earn Creative Performance Scholarships to Calumet College of St. Joseph valued at up to $7500!
