Lost and Found: Whiting’s Francis Kirn

Francis Kirn of Whiting was an illistrator whose work was featured on national magazine covers and in international publications. However, his own neighbors were unaware of the scope of his work. Gathering together samples of artistry from throughout his career, this retrospective is open through the end of March. A special thanks to Whiting enthusiasts and historians, David Dabertin and Brian Lowry, who made this exhibit possible. Visit the Studio during normal business hours to view Kirn’s early works, history of his life and family, and many additional works of his art.

Road Trip! Opening Reception

We’re heading out on a road trip! Join us for an artist reception Friday, September 7th! Come see where we’ve been and take part in our adventures. Be inspired to take your own road trip 6:59-9pm. This event is free and family friendly.

Whiting Arts Walk – Call for Art

The Whiting Arts Walk is going to be a reality October 12th, which is the night of openings at both Studio 659 and CornerStone. Artwork will be displayed in business windows along 119th St between the venues and will be labeled with artists info. There will be maps provided. The businesses will not be open, which means you can enjoy the arts walk and the openings along with everyone else.

Exact numbers are still being worked out but we will need somewhere around 10 artists for this. Email  2-3 images to contactus@studio659.org if you are interested.

Artists will be responsible for hand delivery and pick up of their work at their assigned location.
